How Lawsuit Funding Works

Understanding each step of the process can make it easier to decide whether lawsuit funding is right for your situation. Here's what happens from application through repayment.

Step 1: You Apply

Submit basic information about yourself, your case, and your attorney. This typically takes a few minutes and does not require a credit check.

Step 2: We Contact Your Attorney

Our team reaches out to your attorney to confirm representation and gather case details — such as the nature of the claim, insurance information, and current stage of litigation or negotiation.

Step 3: Underwriting Reviews Your Case

An underwriter evaluates the estimated strength and value of your claim based on the information your attorney provides, not your personal credit or income.

Step 4: You Receive an Offer

If approved, you'll receive an offer outlining the amount available and the full terms and costs. Review it carefully, ideally with your attorney, before deciding.

Step 5: Funds Are Sent

If you accept and sign the agreement, funds are typically sent directly to you.

Step 6: Repayment at Case Resolution

When your case settles or a judgment is paid, your attorney typically repays the funding provider directly from the proceeds, per the terms of your agreement. Under a properly structured non-recourse agreement, if you do not recover, you are generally not personally required to repay out of pocket.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to talk to anyone besides my attorney?

You'll complete the initial application yourself, but case verification happens directly between our underwriting team and your attorney's office.

Can I say no to an offer?

Yes. Reviewing an offer does not obligate you to accept it. Take the time you need to review terms, ideally with your attorney, before deciding.

Ready to start the process?

Apply now and we'll take it from there with your attorney.
